Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Morgan Kuhn and Susan Colwell

Morgan Kuhn

The Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibition by two regionally well-known artists, Morgan Kuhn and Susan Colwell in the exhibit, In Tandem, on view from Sept. 18 - 30, 2004.

The exhibition will showcase paintings completed during the summer. Kuhn is highly regarded for lush, spontaneous landscapes and her richly hued orchestra pieces. She paints in the moment and whether you're gazing at a pond of lilies or feeling the tempo of an orchestra in full swing, you will immediately feel the energy and vitality.

Kuhn commutes between her historic home in downtown Savannah, GA, and her waterfront home on the Isle of Palms, SC, Her expansive oil paintings combine the richness of both localities.

Susan Colwell paints with large, loose strokes and she, too, is a spontaneous colorist. Her oils often reflect the subtleties of the Lowcountry landscape; however, she has recently been experimenting with interiors.

"I love the backlighting in my landscapes and now I'm intrigued with the flickers of light coming into a room or the glow from candles. I'm having such fun focusing on vignettes in each room in the house," says Colwell.
