Art Preserve Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Linda Vista
The Art Preserve Gallery in Charlotte, NC's NoDa Arts District will present an exhibition of works on paper by Linda Vista entitled, Linda Vista - Revisited. The show will open on Sept. 2 and continue through Oct. 30, 2005. This show is a mini-retrospective of monoprints and collages and includes a number of pieces from the artist's personal collection which have not previously been seen or available.
Vista is a 20 year career artist whose work
is represented in numerous corporate and private collections.
Because this show is comprised of works completed during the last
decade, there is a diversity of palette and thematic interests,
yet all are unified by an aesthetic of elegant mystery, and a
mastery of combining materials. Whether utilizing bits of fur
and leaves or silver leaf and hotel notepaper, this work rises
above cliché and tantalizes the viewer with suggested narrative.
A native of Chicago, Vista earned her BFA from the Art Institute
of Chicago then promptly left the urban environment for Tucson,
AZ. This pattern of urban/rural was repeated over the years with
stays in Los Angeles, Southern Oregon, NYC and now Charlotte.
It was while living in LA in the 1980's that Vista began her career
in earnest and began producing monoprints which were sold primarily
to the corporate market. It was this exposure that caught the
eye of The New York Graphic Society, who began publishing her
work. When asked why she is willing to part with pieces from her
personal collection she replied, "It's time for other people
to enjoy them!"
