Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC, Features Works by Carl Moser and Thomas Maté
The Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC, is presenting two exhibitions including: Carl Moser: A Legacy of Photography, on view in the Herring and Vickery Galleries and Color Study: Original works by Thomas Maté on view in the Carter Gallery. Both exhibition are on view through Sept. 30, 2006.
Carl Moser
Carl Moser resides in Hickory, NC, and is a nationally recognized photographer. At 83, Moser is known as one of North Carolina's most prominent master photographers. His photography has artistic qualities matched by few in his field. Moser's nature and landscape photography captures a sense of the spirit of the land and remind us of times past. This exhibit is presented through assistance from the Hickory Museum of Art.
Thomas Maté
Thomas Maté, also of Hickory, is an accomplished self-taught artist. He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions since beginning his serious pursuit of art. Of his work, Maté writes, "Through painting, I try to portray the beauty of the subject in its simplest form. I attempt to take what my eye sees, factor-out the extraneous, and commit to my paper or canvas, only those lights, shadows, colors which make my subject most appealing."
The Wilkes Art Gallery is a non-profit visual arts organization dedicated to providing quality educational experiences through exhibits, classes, workshops and field trips for all ages. WAG promotes art as a necessary and enriching part of a well-rounded life.
