Ann Long Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Mario Robinson

Ann Long Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibition, Mario Robinson: Recent Work, on view from Sept. 20 - 30, 2007.

After completing his education at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Robinson has distinguished himself through his mastery of pastel, watercolor, and graphite. Using these various mediums, he creates exquisitely detailed portraits of the people and surroundings in his mother's home in rural Alabama. Taking as long as four months to complete and consisting of as many as 40 layers, Robinson's finished works bear a close affinity to the masters of the realist tradition, Andrew Wyeth and Thomas Eakins. His personal mission is to celebrate the commonality of human beings through reflecting the beauty of each person he portrays.

"Mario captures the soul of black America like no other artist I have ever seenhis deft handling captures the subtle nuances of personality and mood in each of his figurative works.  Each work shows superlative talent and sharp mind that will surely lead Mario to a rich future filled with personal success and achievement," comments Fred Ross of the Art Renewal Center (American Art Collector).
