Artis Fine Art in Winston-Salem, NC, Presents New Exhibition of Lowcountry Paintings
A collection of original paintings by gallery artists: George E. Thompson, Connie Winters, Darren Young, Dee Beard Dean, Ken Wallin, Andrea Tritico and Clarkson Jones will be on display at Artis Fine Art at Noble's Grille in Winston-Salem, NC, from Sept. 1 - 30, 2007.
Featured works include plein air paintings capturing the Carolina Lowcountry in landscape, seascape and figurative works. This show will introduce the work of two artists new to Artis Fine Art, Clarkson Jones and Andrea Tritico.
Clarkson Jones graduated from Winthrop University with a liberal arts degree. However, he did not immediately follow his artistic aspirations. He worked as a civil engineer for twelve years before taking up a career in investment finance. Clarkson began actively painting again in 1997. He has studied privately with many artists including: Andy Braitman, Harris Holt and Clyde Aspevig. Over the past decade, Clarkson has traveled the world extensively; allowing him to experience other cultures first-hand.
Clarkson's journey as a painter has coincided
with a spiritual one in which he has explored personal reflection
and meditation. This personal growth has awakened a surge of creativity
and an intuitive approach to the canvas grounded in the philosophy
of Russian painter, Nicoli Fechin, and the belief in "controlled
chaos," beginning in the process stage of each painting.
Through his art, Clarkson seeks to capture his perceptions of
those things in life which inspire him most: painting, music and
nature. An avid hiker, sailor and plein air painter, nature is
a recurring theme in his paintings.
Andrea Tritico has been painting since childhood. She is currently
working on a series of Impressionistic paintings of the coasts
of Georgia and South Carolina. These paintings are reflective
in nature; as they are reminiscent of her own childhood in Louisiana.
Tritico's personal depictions capture the unique tranquility and
serenity found in the Lowcountry.
Tritico's artistic ability has extended beyond the canvas in the
form of sculptures of chocolate for restaurants in New Orleans
and California while working as a pastry chef for famous restaurants
such as Bella Luna in New Orleans. She has also appeared as a
guest on The Great Chefs of New Orleans, exhibiting her
mastery of the culinary arts.
