Richard James Galleries in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Peter Pettegrew

Landscape artist Peter Pettegrew will be showing his work at the Richard James Gallery in Charleston, SC, on view through Sept. 30, 2007. This adventurer and naturalist will be featuring over 40 paintings, most created on location right here in the Southeast.

Pettegrew's formal art education began at Harbor Senior High in Santa Cruz, CA, a prestigious and progressive school dedicated to advancing the development of artistic skills and creative freedom. After moving to Florida, Pettegrew attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. There he studied painting as well as the graphic art techniques of he now employs in his hand-pulled serigraphs, stone lithographs, and originals.

A documentary film has recently been released about Pettegrew's art titled Heart of a Landscape Painter. The film is an enlightening glimpse into what it is like to paint plein-air (natural open air painting), as seen through the eyes of this acclaimed painter. The film has been touted "Intimate, revealing and inspiring!"

The Richard James Galleries located in historic downtown Charleston, SC, has been serving the area for over seven years. The gallery carries a selection of works by regionally, nationally and internationally known artists.
