Center of the Earth in Charlotte, NC,
Features New Works by Scott Upton
Center of the Earth in Charlotte, NC, will present the highly anticipated solo exhibit, Scott Upton: Open Passage, on view from Sept. 2 through Oct. 31, 2008.
Upton's continued and consistent strength is evident in this solid grouping of new works. Connections to specific events and subject matter are reflected in his vibrant abstractions. Often inspired by nature, this exhibition includes themes of passages of time, light, and water. Kindred tones and intuitive manipulations of the paint intermingle with a sense of playfulness, giving this body of work a sense of maturity.
Upton's paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries and are included in the permanent collections of Chase Manhattan, Progress Energy, The Knoxville Art Museum, The Umstead Hotel, The Georgia Dome, The Breakers Resort, and the Four Seasons Hotel.
