Red Clover Gallery in Landrum, SC, Features Works by Irene Hahn

Red Clover Gallery in Landrum, SC, will present an exclusive showing of Irene Hahn's unique folk art, which celebrates the great diversity of the horse. The exhibition will be on view from Sept. 5 through Oct. 2, 2008.

Two of Tryon, NC's great loves, art and horses, have found yet another avenue of merger in the unique art media of Irene Hahn.

Twelve years ago, the official publication of the American Driving Society, The Whip, carried an article applauding the few octogenarians still competing in carriage driving. Hahn was included then, and now in 2008, at age 92, she is making her debut as an artist! Using mixed media in every piece, Hahn's fascination with all things equine documents her ninety-plus years interacting with horses.

From the gentle team of Nebraska workhorses who became her childhood babysitter, through the years in Michigan breeding and supplying competition ponies and horses for all deserving children, to the Thoroughbred track as owner and trainer, Hahn has much to share. In the past fifteen years, she has developed a technique depicting a two dimensional equine sculpture in all disciplines - dressage, hunting, carriage driving, rodeo, racing, polo, and of course, horses at play. These pieces are then painted and placed on simple backgrounds to exemplify their spirit.

Please join her friends Pat Kimura, Dale Govus and Bertie Phayer, Registered Art Therapist Merilyn Field and, of course, Red Clover Gallery owner, Celia Kudro as we welcome Hahn from Camden to share her works and wisdom.
