Asheville Gallery of Art Shows Works by Robert Mahosky
Asheville Gallery of Art, in downtown Asheville, NC, Artist-of-the-Month for Aug. 1999, is painter and videographer Robert Mahosky.
Many of Mahosky's paintings are based on people, places and events he has encountered while working as a TV news videographer. A number of his paintings are based on his experiences videotaping the children of Rawanda, after the massacre, for a special news series.
Working with oils on thick paper, he meticulously draws each painting first, then layers the drawing with color, striving for detail in light and reflection.
