November Issue 1999
4th Annual Avenue Of Arts & Crafts in Mt. Pleasant, SC
Come stroll the beautiful avenue of oaks of
Oakland Plantation, Mt. Pleasant, SC, on Nov. 6 & 7 and view
the work of 70 artists and craftsmen. This juried show attracts
exhibitors from many states with many talents. The artwork ranges
from watercolor, oil, and pastels, to painted nautical charts,
3-d papercuts, and historic photographs. The crafts are varied
and unique, featuring handmade jewelry and soaps, wooden bowls,
pens and toys, birdhouses, pottery, rugs, dolls and oyster angels
(to name a few). There will be music throughout the weekend, face
painting and pony rides for the kids, and food served by Sticky
Fingers and Seewee Restaurant.
Oakland Plantation is a hidden gem off of Hwy. 17, just 2 miles
north of Boone Hall Plantation. This privately owned plantation
is only open to the general public during this event. Besides
the avenue of oaks, there are houses and outbuildings dating to
1740.
A portion of the proceeds this year will benefit "Happy Days
and Special Times", an organization dedicated to enriching
the lives of children with cancer by providing summer camp and
year round events. For further information call 843/884-4153.
