Columbia Film Society' s Film Tour Continues

The Columbia Film Society, in Columbia, SC, is one of the host for the 1999-2000 Southern Circuit Film Tour, a program of the SC Arts Commission. The Southern Circuit is a touring exhibition of six independent film/videomakers with their works; and is the only centrally-organized, regional program of its kind in the nation. The Circuit continues with Narcel Reedus' For Colored Boys Who've Considered Suicide.

In this spiritual drama an ancestor (Thomas Merdis) travels through time and space to interrogate a murderer (Chong Thi Nguyen) to find why young black boys are killing each other. For Colored Boys earned Best Drama title from the National Black Programming Consortium and Best of Show at the Central Florida Film Festival.

There will be a filmmaker reception, from 6:30 to 730pm, prior to the screening at 8pm at the Nickelodeon Theatre, located at 937 Main Street in Columbia, behind the State House.

The Columbia site for the 1999-2000 Southern Circuit is sponsored by Bravo, the independent film and video channel and Time Warner Cable.

Season passes may be purchased prior to the first screening. Season passes include admission to opening reception and (1) admission for each of the (6) six screenings. Season tickets are $18. Individual ticket prices are as follows: $3.50 for members of McKissick Museum and Columbia Film Society; $4.50 for seniors and students; and $6.00 for non-members. It should be noted that only members of the Columbia Film Society and McKissick Museum can reserve seats. Seats must be reserved by 5:30pm the evening of the individual screening.
