Hands On Event at Hand in Hand Gallery
Hand in Hand Gallery, the studios and gallery space of Voorhees Pottery (David Voorhees) and Molly Sharp, jeweler, located in Flat Rock, NC, will be offering a special outdoor, "Hands On" event on Sat., July 31 from 10am to 5pm. Refreshments and musical entertainment will be provided, and the all-day event is free and open to the public.
This established event, now in its third year, will feature returning potters Jeff Hamilton and Ronan Peterson of Asheville, who will demonstrate the process of raku pottery firing. As before, several potters wheels will be available for any and all to try their hands. Also returning is blacksmith Andy Brittain who will demonstrate his forged ironwork.
New demonstrating artists to be featured include Kimberly Adams, glass bead jewelry; Kathy Collins, painted rock art; Marya Davin, wheel thrown pottery; Tom Dennis, woodturning; Mark "Julio" King, tile and stone artistry; Bill Robertson, photography; Jane Shiley, knitted beadwork, and Jerri Smith, sterling silver jewelry. All demonstrating artists will have items for sale.
During the event, Hand in Hand Gallery will be featuring the owners' hand painted porcelain pottery and sterling and gold jewelry. The gallery will also be hosting a special showing of stained glass by Deana Blanchard and Chuck Young and gourd dolls by Many Voices.
