Two Exhibits in Hendersonville Feature Books & Photography
50 Books/60 Covers an exhibition of winning entries from the annual book arts competition of the American Institute of Graphic Arts is on display at the Arts Center in Hendersonville, NC, through June 12, 1999. Categories for the competition range from trade, reference, and juvenile books to special format books. Each year the show is donated to the Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Columbia University. This exhibition promotes literacy and showcases excellence in the field of graphic design.
Also showing at the same time is the exhibit, Party Time,
a collection of winning photographs from Parade Magazine's
Eastman Kodak contest. Readers were asked to submit entries of
their best party photos. Over 300,000 were received celebrating
the joy and humor of everyday American life. This exhibition is
brought to the Arts Center by the Hendersonville Times-News.
The Arts Center is a non-profit arts organization serving the
public through exhibitions, classes, lectures, workshops, and
educational programs.
The Arts Center was established in 1992 by the Four Seasons Arts Council as an arts forum to benefit residents of Henderson County and the region.
