Lexington County Library Features Solo Fiber Art Exhibit
Fiber artist Dottie Gantt will be the next featured solo artist
at the main branch of the Lexington County Library in Lexington,
SC, from Oct. 1 - 31.
Gantt incorporates traditional quiltmaking and contemporary sewing
techniques to create her original fiber art designs. Fabric textures,
color, design, and visual illusions are used to create images
expressing emotions/feelings, experiences, and interpretations
of Gantt's perceptions of her world.
Gantt's award winning work has been juried and exhibited in museums, art galleries, and other venues in SC, NC, and GA. A number of her works are in private collections in Illinois, Minnesota, Arizona, North Carolina and South Carolina. Gantt's fiber art wall hanging, When One Door Closes..., was juried and selected as one of 40 pieces in the 1st Annual Juried SC State Fair Fine Arts Traveling Exhibit, administered by the SC State Museum Traveling Exhibits Program.
"With each piece I try to challenge myself, stretch, take risks, experiment, and develop my creativity as a fiber artist. I enjoy taking thread, fabric, embellishments and an idea, ending up with a work that is different from anything else ever created, something that's part of you. It is my hope that viewers of my work will find something that pleases, challenges or excites them".
