Moonshell Art Gallery Features Works by Chris Ritsch & Susan Colwell

The Moonshell Art Gallery on Hilton Head Island, SC, presents an exhibition by Chris Ritsch and Susan Colwell entitled Lowcountry Duet which will be on view through Nov.

Chris Ritsch works to describe light as it articulates her chosen subject and often employs Lowcountry themes in her work. She is noted for her use of vivid color and lyrical abstraction. Ritch has lived, worked and studied in Charleston since 1987 and was past president of the Charleston Artists Guild and a founding member of Waterfront Gallery. A 1967 graduate of the University of Nebraska, she continued her studies at American University, George Washington University, The Collage of Charleston, the New York Studio School and the Gibbes Museum School.

Susan Colwell studied art at the Toledo Museum of Art as a child and had her first solo exhibition in Toledo, OH, as a teenager. She continued her studies and earned her BFA in painting from Miami University, Oxford, OH. A winner of numerous awards and scholarships, her paintings are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.

Colwell resides with her husband in Awendaw on the Wando River in the Lowcountry, where the distinct landscape and relaxed country lifestyle provide inspiration and serenity for her abstract impressionistic oil paintings.
