Print Studio South in Charleston, SC, Host Second Annual Art Auction
Due to the success of last years art auction Print Studio South is staging a 2nd annual event on Nov. 20 at the Charleston Maritime Center, located on the bank of the Cooper River in Charleston, SC. This year's auction will take place from 6:30 to 7pm.
Print Studio South is a non-profit art organization dedicated to educating artists and the public about fine art prints and print techniques. The auction is the studio's major fundraising event for the year, but last was the first attempt at the new format, all local contemporary art at a silent auction.
The auction supports both area contemporary artists and Print Studio South programs. The work up for auction includes paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, fine art furniture and of course Print Studio South's mainstay, fine art prints including etchings, silkscreen and lithographic prints. It is policy to maintain a 50/50 split between the contributing artist and Print Studio on sales. This insures not only more participation from area artists but the quality of the art itself.
PSS hopes that contemporary artists in the Charleston area will look forward to this annual event as not only an opportunity to stage an excellent exhibit but also a chance to all get together and celebrate. PSS also hopes that area art patronage will increase for contemporary art by having such an excellent display of work for sale annually.
Area artists who are interested in participating in the auction can contact Print Studio South at 843/722-0697. The fine arts auction, titled A Feast For The Eyes, takes place Nov. 20, 1999 from 6:30-7pm at the Charleston Maritime Center, 10 Wharfside Street. The auction features art, feasting, wine, and music for $8 per person. All are welcome.
