SECCA to Present The Complete And Enigmatic Print Work Of Terry Winters
The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA), in Winston-Salem, NC, presents Terry Winters: Prints from Oct. 23 through Feb. 6. Featuring more than 100 prints, this traveling exhibition represents the first exhaustive look at the complete and enigmatic print work of one of America's leading painters. Organized by the Barbara Krakow Gallery, Boston and Matthew Marks Gallery, NY, this exhibition defines the artist's work as a printmaker, from small, monochromatic prints to large and highly abstract yet related explorations of spatial and visual perception.
A major influence on contemporary abstract painting, the artist's 1992 retrospective at New York's Whitney Museum of American Art established Winter's intuitive, expressive style and rigorous organic abstract vocabulary as a major formal and conceptual force in contemporary art. Terry Winter: Prints offers a comprehensive study of Winter's deep commitment to printmaker's diverse, intimate range of metaphor and offers unique insight into the artist's experimentation and exploration of his visual language.
