Peace & Harmony the Message of Touchstone Gallery in Hendersonville

To celebrate the inherent message of Peace and Harmony that the winter holiday season evokes, Touchstone Gallery in Hendersonville, NC, is pleased to announce the arrival of four recently completed paintings by Asheville artist, Ernie.

Two of the acrylic on canvas works are tributes to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, as part of Ernie's continuing exploration of Art from Life and Spirit. Both can be viewed in Touchstone's Main Street window until Jan. 8, 2000.

According to Ernie "both were inspired by the Dalai Lama's recent teaching visit to the United States. This "simple monk" represents to me the ultimate example in a religious leader. His is an inclusive message for mankind to be loving, compassionate, forgiving, understanding and ever hopeful. Others in world religious leadership roles would do well to follow his example of love, tolerance and respect for planet Earth and all its' precious inhabitants."

The work entitled, Ancient Message, is painted in hues of deep red, purple and gold which Ernie associates with the Dalai Lama and his homeland of Tibet. The "message" is a series of glyph-like figures painted on the canvas to evoke the idea of a spiritual message from long ago that is as relevant today as it would have been centuries ago.

With the theme of the 1999 Hendersonville Holiday Parade being "Bridging the Centuries with Peace", Touchstone's owner, Jessica Claydon, feels Ernie's inspired works mirror the universal desire for Peace... not only at holiday time, but for all time.
