F.W. Front Gallery at Woolworth Walk in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Brian Mashburn

The F.W. Front Gallery at Woolworth Walk in Asheville, NC, will present the exhibit, Brian Mashburn: Paintings, on view from Oct. 1 - 30, 2009.

Mashburn was born of a Caucasian father and a Chinese mother, this along with spending summers traveling and teaching in Hong Kong and China have had a profound influence on his work. The density of the population and the overwhelming infrastructure provide a unique and telling aesthetic. In his work he employs excessive layering of skylines and the implementation of narratives based on solitude, desire, and abandonment. "These ideas of excess, solitude, degradation of the planet, and serenity in chaos coupled with an odd obsession with family, human, and romantic interactions have also had a great influence on my work," said Mashburn.
