Arts Council
of Henderson Co. and WICKWIRE Gallery in Hendersonville, NC, Offer
Joint Exhibit
Bart Vanish
The Arts Council of Henderson County and WICKWIRE Gallery in Hendersonville, NC, will present the exhibit, City of Four Seasons in Two Dimensions Traditions: Henderson County, a juried and judged exhibition, on view in the Arts Council's D. Samuel Neill Gallery from Oct. 23 through Nov. 20, 2009.
Established by WICKWIRE in 1999, this annual show is open to residents of the Carolinas who are 18 years of age and older. This year the Arts Council is co-producing the show with WICKWIRE. According to Jim Faucett, Executive Director of The Arts Council, "We decided to participate in part because WICKWIRE needed a partner to help ensure the show went on. Especially during this troubled economy, we didn't want our artists to lose an opportunity to show their work and possibly make sales and win prize monies."
Well-known regional artist Ann Vasilik will be the judge for the exhibition. Vasilik, a native of Lancaster County, PA, has lived in Asheville, NC, since 1988. She received a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Philadelphia College of Art. A popular workshop instructor, she has taught and painted extensively throughout the Southeast and in California, Hawaii and the Republic of the Philippines. Her commission works are in great demand and reproductions from her original paintings have gone all over the world. Locally, her art has supported numerous charities. She has served on the board of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina as the Western Region Director.
