Elder Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Offers Salon des Refuses for Carolina's
Largest Juried Exhibit
Elder Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Carolinas Salon des Refuses, on view from Oct. 9 through Nov. 28, 2009.
In the tradition of
the Salon des Refuses which began in Paris in 1863, Elder
Gallery will host the first exhibition of artwork not selected
for Carolina's Got Art! which opens at Atherton Mill in
Charlotte, in early October.
The exhibit features over fifty original paintings and sculpture
that represent the "best of the rejected". Artists from
North and South Carolina were invited to submit their work for
consideration in the juried art exhibition and the response was
overwhelming. Over eleven hundred entries were received. Approximately
120 pieces were chosen by New York art critic and writer, Brice
Brown, to be included in the juried exhibition.
"A tremendous number of impressive and creative works were submitted" says Larry Elder, founder of Carolina's Got Art! "We feel that the work selected for Salon des Refuses was simply too good not to be shown. We have been able to create an exciting and interesting show."
All work included in the exhibition is available for sale and will be on display through the month of November.
