First Federal
in Charleston, SC, Present Exhibit Focused on Women
Exhibiting members of the Charleston Artist Guild are exploring their feminine side this fall with the exhibit, Art & Soul of a Woman, Celebrating the Female Spirit, the theme of this year's People's Choice Art Exhibit presented Oct. 2 - 15, 2009, by First Federal and The Center for Women in Charleston, SC.
First Federal is celebrating the 25th anniversary of People's Choice by partnering with The Center for Women and incorporating the theme. Each entry will represent or symbolize a woman in deed, spirit or appearance. The exhibit is part of the Oct. 2 French Quarter Art Walk and the public is invited to join the celebration from 6 8pm in the lobby of First Federal at 34 Broad St.
The exhibit will include more than 100 pieces of original art, photography and sculpture, all created by exhibiting members of the Charleston Artist Guild. Many pieces are for sale and contact information for each artist is listed in the program. The pubic is invited to visit during business hours until Oct. 15.
Voting for the People's Choice award is open to the public from Oct. 2 8. Cast your vote for the piece deemed most popular by art lovers in the community.
The work will be judged by Arleta Pech, a realism artist from Arvada, CO. Her art exposure came not from museums or art schools, but from paper, paint and crayons.
Awards will be given in the following categories: People's Choice, Purchase Award, first, second and third place and six honorable mentions. All but the People's Choice Award will be selected by Pech. The Purchase Award winner will be bought by First Federal and displayed in the lobby of the bank's Broad Street office.
