Green Rice Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Kate Vasseur
Green Rice Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, The Fifth Season, featuring works by Kate Vasseur, on view from Oct. 2 through Nov. 1, 2009.
Vasseur offers the following
about her work: "Every space has an aesthetic energy. I
find a purpose in creating and reconstructing works that further
convey this energy. I often find the media with which I am
working dictates the final outcome of a piece. When working
with wood panels the grain of the wood helps determine the landscape.
Otherwise overlooked pieces can be reborn as a piece of jewelry
or sculpture. Watercolors flow onto the paper and morph into
faces. My media does not limit my creations. My canvas
is as vital as the brush strokes I paint on it."
"My paintings have been described as modern landscapes that
draw emotion from places we all seem to have been before. Equal
parts fantasy and nostalgia. Other works that accompany my
collections are related works made from objects that would otherwise
have been lost in our modern day. My quest for the unique,
functional, and purely aesthetic compliments to life are my inspiration."
