Myst Gallery
in Spartanburg, SC, Features Works by Suzanne Zoole
Myst Gallery on Morgan Square in Spartanburg, SC, will present new paintings by Suzanne Zoole, on view from Oct. 15 through Nov. 23, 2009.
Zoole's style of abstracted realism encompasses interiors, landscapes and occasional figure work. She establishes her composition as if looking through a camera lens, defining and strengthening her paintings with her characteristic dark outlines of the shapes within. Embellishing the surface with her custom made stamps and collaged images, her work is richly layered, and projects warmth, comfort and hospitality.
Zoole is a Signature
Member of the National Watercolor Association and the South Carolina
Watermedia Society. In 2006, she was juried into the prestigious
American Watercolor Society's annual show, winning an award and
having her painting chosen as part of the traveling exhibit. A
grant was awarded to her by the Spartanburg Arts Partnership in
2004, enabling her to paint a series titled The Bed: Archetypal
and Ordinary.
For two consecutive years Zoole has been designated as a fellow
in the Artist in Residency program at the Hambidge Center in Georgia. She
holds degrees from Agnes Scott College, University of Colorado
and North Texas University. She is the recipient of a Fulbright
Scholarship. Zoole's serious pursuit of art followed these
academic achievements with the intensive study of water media
with nationally known artists.
