Artists Guild
Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Nancy
Barry
The Artists Guild Gallery
of Greenville in Greenville, SC, will present an exhibit of works
by guest artist, Nancy Barry, on view from Oct. 1 - 31, 2010.
Originally from Long Island, NY, Barry now calls Greer, SC, home.
She studied design and fine arts while in New York. She first
became enamored with watercolor at the age of 35, after taking
a workshop at the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC. Barry credits
artist Nona Butterworth with giving her a strong foundation in
handling the medium. She still takes classes and workshops to
continue to explore as an artist, and she even conducts classes
in watercolor on a weekly basis.
Barry is an active volunteer for The Greenville County Museum of Art, where she is in her 4th year as a docent and is a member of Upstate Visual Arts, where she has worked on various committees and events. Committed to giving back to the community, she has donated time and talent over the years to both Charlotte Mecklenburg and Greenville County Schools for scenery and set design, art instruction for the Gifted and Talented and After-school Arts Programs. Barry was a National PTA Reflections Program Visual Arts District Judge (2006-2007 and 2009-2010) and co-taught a portrait drawing class at Greenville Tech Charter High's Arts Intercession Program, Jan. '09 and Jan. 2010.
Barry will offer beautiful watercolors ranging from landscape to abstract with nice rich color. Stop by the gallery and look at her work with us throughout October.
