Dobbin Gallery
at Kiawah Island, SC, Offers Works by Susan Colwell
The Dobbin Gallery at Freshfileds, just at the entrance of Kiawah Island, SC, will be featuring more than a dozen of the latest original oils by award-winning Charleston artist Susan Colwell, on view from Oct. 1 through Nov. 1, 2010.
Colwell's abstract-expressionistic landscapes emphasize vibrant color and large, loose brush strokes. Subleties of the light and reflections on the water are key elements of her work . For Colwell, the essence of the painting is mood, rather than subject, and her portrayal of the scene is charged with emotion. "I am moved by the ever-changing atmosphere in the Lowcountry and strive to recreate the feeling of a place or moment," says Colwell.
Colwell holds a BFA in painting from Miami University in Ohio and has been painting professionally for over twenty years. As a child, she studied art at the Toledo Museum of Art and as a teenager had her first solo exhibition. Her work hangs in private and corporate collections throughout the nation.
Current works available
in the Dobbin Gallery range in size from 11x 14 inches to 48 x
48 inches and include a marsh diptych.
