Studio 103 in Black
Mountain, NC, is presenting an exhibition of recent works by Asheville
artist, Benjamin M Betsalel, and a selection of works by Becca
Midwood of Austin, TX, on view through Oct. 27, 2010. The gallery
will also present the exhibit, women floating, featuring
works by Les Caison III, on view from Oct. 28 through Nov. 27,
2010.
Betsalel's fluid approach explores the relationship between attitude
and outcome. Raining down on canvases, he fearlessly pushes his
medium, capturing reality through images which occur. His latest
work is a further searching of "the weather or not"
series.
Becca Midwood is an artist based in Austin, TX, who started her career quite successfully in L.A. Her work has been featured on the cover of Juxtapoz Magazine and appeared in Nylon, Glue, the L.A. Times and many others. She is a painter of haunting outdoor portraits, is getting a reputation as the "female Basquiat." She has a number of serious collectors of her work, and Hollywood types such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Balthazar Getty have reportedly purchased her paintings."
The show women floating,
features works by Les Caison III. The paintings explore
ways to perceive those not quite on terra firma and not all in
the ethers either. These floating women are attached to 50
hearts.
Caison III paints from the heart matters of the soul for the eyes
of observers. Folks see different things in his slices-of-life
oil paintings. He meshes the oil with his love for graphite
line - the result is a hot mess of the creative process chock
full of emotion and story. There are 1000 words in each painting.
What will you see?
Caison III's work has been featured in Our State magazine. It
is also collected internationally.
