Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, Offers 35th Annual Juried Show
The Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, will present the 35th Annual Caldwell Visual Artists Competition, on view from Oct. 7 - 28, 2011. A reception will be held on Oct. 7, from 5-7:30pm, where six cash awards totaling $650 will be presented.
Recognizing Caldwell County artists whose medium includes 2 and 3-dimensional art, the Caldwell Arts Council invites the public to enjoy an exciting show by our local artists. The show, always a favorite among Gallery attendees, will include a wide variety of styles and media. Some of the artwork will be available for purchase.
This year’s judge is Betty Powell, who received her Bachelor of Science in Art Education degree from Appalachian State University. After working as a visual art educator in Wilkes County Schools for many years, Powell focused her attention on creating artwork, pursuing a Masters of Art degree, and studying with many well-known pastel artists including Wolf Kahn and Charles Basham. Powell has received numerous awards throughout the years including Best in Show and First Place in Paintings at the Wilkes Art Gallery’s Northwest Artist’s League Juried Competition. Powell’s pastels, paintings, and mixed media collages are included in private and public collections across the South.
