ENO Gallery in Hillsborough, NC, Features Works by Alice Ballard and Roger Dalrymple
ENO Gallery in Hillsborough, NC, is presenting On and Off the Wall, featuring new sculptural ceramics by Alice Ballard and Roger Dalrymple, on view through Nov. 15, 2013.
One of the most noteworthy ceramics exhibitions to come to the Triangle, On and Off the Wall, features the work of Roger Dalrymple and Alice Ballard. One of the finest ceramic artists in the US, Ballards work is in numerous important collections including the Smithsonian museum in Washington, DC.
Ballard was born in 1945, she received her Bachelor of Science in Design in 1967 from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Arts in painting in 1968 at the University of Michigan.
Ballard’s work is in numerous collections including The Renwick Collection at The Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC, The State Art Collections in South Carolina and TN; The Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC, and The American Embassy in Portugal.
Van W. Shields, Director of Culture and Heritage Museums says, “Alice Ballards exquisite ceramics of natural objects illustrate by her hands that we are a part of and not apart from nature.”
Ballard and Dalrymple have been married and collaborating for 23 years.
Dalrymple was born in 1942, and earned degrees in Architecture and Art from the University of Kansas and Kansas State University.
Dalrymple states “My forms are an expression of my life long exposure to the American Indian Tribes of the Plains and Southwest United States, the Haida and Aleut Tribes of the Pacific Northwest, the Inupiat, Eskimo and Athabascan Tribes of Alaska and the Maori, Aboriginal People of New Zealand and Australia.”
