November Issue 2003
Smith-Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features 7th Solo Exhibit by Shannon Smith
Beginning
the first Friday in November handpicked artists from the best
galleries in the city, come together to celebrate the arts in
Charleston, SC, at the CFADA Fine Arts Annual. This year, Smith-Killian
Fine Art will be featuring the work of local painter, Shannon
Smith. Her exhibit, People and Places, will encompass works
she has created both in her studio and plein air. The exhibit
will be on view from Nov. 7 - 21, 2003.
While preparing for this collection Smith traveled to Europe,
spent time watching shrimp boats in McClellanville, SC, and enjoyed
the symphony during Charleston's annual Spoleto Festival USA.
All of these events have inspired her to create her most desirable
collection to date. "I seek and find beauty in the ordinary,
whether it be the drama of light interacting with the subject
or a mood created by a scene, telling us stories, and thus documenting
our contemporary life in a aged world," says Smith. There
will be something for everyone, from her moody but unmistakable
Parisian café's, to a day at the beach on Sullivan's Island.
Her paintings connect with the viewer through their honesty and
sense of nostalgia.
This is the Fifth CFADA Fine Arts Annual and a detailed event schedule can be found at (www.cfada.com). Don't miss this opportunity to mingle with fine art collectors from across the country.
