Florence Museum
of Art in Florence, SC, Offers Annual SC Watermedia Exhibit
The Florence Museum of Art, Science and History in Florence, SC is presenting the SC Watermedia Society's 32nd Annual Member Exhibition, on view through Nov. 29, 2009.
The SC Watermedia Society (SCWS) has announced the award winners from its 32nd annual exhibition. Pat Dews, AWS, NWS, who served as juror of the exhibition, has named the top 30 selections. The show features 60 visual art pieces from artists across the state of South Carolina.
Claire Farrell
The Best of Show award was given to Claire Farrell of Columbia, SC, for her work, Belly Dancer. Farrell won $1,000 from Friends of the President of SCWS, Pollie Goodson Bristow of Darlington, SC. SCWS awarded $8,300 in awards to the top 30 selections.

After the show ends,
the 30 award winning artworks will travel the state as part of
the State Museum's Traveling Exhibits program. The first stop
for the traveling show will be at the Hartsville Museum in Hartsville,
SC during the month of December. Other locations will be announced
by SCWS and The State Museum. For more information about the SC

The SC Watermedia Society
(SCWS) is the only statewide visual arts organization in South
Carolina and nurtures and promotes artists who work in watermedia
(i.e. watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein and mixed media in
conjunction with watermedia on any surface) by providing exhibition
opportunities, professional development and educational programs.
The public is provided with many quality art experiences including
exhibitions and art education in the form of lectures, demonstrations
and workshops. In addition to the annual exhibition, SCWS has
organized major curated exhibitions including, South Carolina
Collects Watercolors at the SC State Museum and Masters
of the American Watercolor at the Columbia Museum of Art.
For more than 25 years, the Annual Traveling Exhibition has been
a popular touring exhibit, appearing in cities across the state
and drawing more than 20,000 visitors last year alone.
