Shain Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Roger Dale Brown
New paintings by artist Roger Dale Brown will be on view at Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, from Jan. 8 - 31, 2010.
Originally from Nashville, TN, Brown has traveled and studied across the country. His experiences, history, the natural world, and architecture, inspire his acclaimed oil paintings. Brown paints en plein air and has painted scenes across the country from still lifes to cityscapes. His artistic goal is to capture the essence of location, to make a viewer feel the color of the trees and the sun on a field.
Brown began his formal art studies at Middle Tennessee State University. He continued his training with artists Dawn Witelaw, Scott Christensen, George Strickland and Ralph Oberg. He also studied the works of Edgar Payne, John F. Carlson and Andrew Wyeth. Brown is a member of The Chestnut Group, The Cumberland Society of Painters, Oil Painters of America and is President of Plein Air Painters of the Southeast.
Brown's work is displayed in galleries across the country including the Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition, the Tennessee Art League, The Central South Juried Show and the Hendersonville Artist Guild. His work has been featured in publications of International Artist Magazine and is included in many prominent private and corporate collections.
Located in beautiful Myers Park, Shain Gallery has been on the forefront of the North Carolina art scene since 1998. The gallery represents many leading national and regional artists, and recently won the "Best of the Best Award" for best Charlotte gallery.
