NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC, Offers Works by Robert Flowers
NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC, will present an exhibit of watercolor paintings by Robert Flowers, on view in the Mims Gallery, from Nov. 8 through Dec. 15, 2013. A reception will be held on Nov. 8, from 7-9pm.
Hailing from the rolling Blue Ridge foothills of Patrick County, VA, award winning watercolor artist Robert Flowers has called North Carolina home since 1980. Often described as a man ‘possessed of a contented heart’, Flowers’ paintings are reverent reflections of his rural heritage. His realistic portrayals, whether they are depictions of a country lane coursing along a forested ridge or a doe alert to distant hounds, serve as a welcoming invitation for the viewer to take a tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of contemporary life.
An avid outdoorsman and naturalist, Flowers’ ever popular paintings have been published in the annual North Carolina Wildlife calendar since 1989 and have been featured in Virginia Wildlife magazine, the West Virginia Wildlife calendar and on the covers of North State magazine and Hunting and Fishing Collectibles magazine. His artistic creations have been selected for the North Carolina Sportsman’s Stamp and the North Carolina Heritage Series Duck Stamp.
Further, Flowers’ artistic creations have been utilized numerous times by wildlife conservation organizations such as the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, the Ward Burton Wildlife Habitat Foundation, the North Carolina Bow Hunter’s Association and the Wendell, North Carolina Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, all for their successful ‘Print of the Year’ fundraising campaigns. Having a deep appreciation for the great outdoors, Flowers makes regular contributions to responsible wildlife conservation groups such as Ducks Unlimited, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Quail Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Flowers’ award winning watercolors have been exhibited in fine art events in England and throughout the United States. His alluring works of art are held in numerous corporate and private art collections around the globe, including Bank of Oklahoma, Phillip Morris Tobacco, The Oklahoman Newspaper, Sealtest Milk Corp, Wachovia Bank and Trust, the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, Bank of Virginia and RJ Reynolds Tobacco.
