Four Green Fields Gallery in Summerville,
SC, Features Works by John Brewton
Four Green Fields Gallery in Summerville,
SC, will present an exhibit of works by local photographer and
author, John Brewton, on view Jan. 8 through Feb. 5, 2011.
The exhibit will focus on Brewton's award winning landscape work.
Misty photographs of the barrier islands of South Carolina arouse
a sense of mystery and something lurking in the offing. "I
began shooting film at the ripe age of eleven" says Brewton.
"Today I mostly shoot with two Leica M bodies. I shoot color
rarely, preferring the tonality and depth of good black and white.
I shoot what appeals to me and the better stuff goes to a gallery."
A native of Texas, Brewton lives on Folly Beach, SC, with his
wife Janet. Brewton is a graduate of Texas Tech University and
graduate school. Brewton's interests have long been divided between
photography, writing and Italian cars. His involvement with photography
began in 1960, as a photographer for his high school newspaper.
He has done free lance work for automotive magazines, wrote and
published the Lamborghini-Maserati Newsletter from 1984-1990,
and raced enduro carts.
Brewton's most recent project is a novel entitled The Pope's
Gold, an adventure story set in the beautiful Italian region
of Umbria.
"I suspect that the dream of many of us is to own a small
vineyard in the luscious, idyllic Italian countryside. The
Pope's Gold not only lets the reader vicariously live that
life but throws in a charming love story, a who-can-I-trust modern
day mystery, and the discovery of secrets dating from centuries
long past," says Billy Noel, author of Folly, The Pier,
Washout and The Edge.
Brewton will appear at Four Green Fields Gallery for a book signing,
Thursday, Jan, 19, 2011, from 5 to 8pm. The public is invited.
