MESH Gallery in Morganton, NC, Features
Works by Priscilla Wallace
MESH Gallery in Morganton, NC, is presenting a one-person exhibit, Images of Thought and Memory, featuring mixed media pieces created by Burke County artist Priscilla Wallace, on view through Dec. 31, 2010.
Mindful of the principles of design, Wallace's "Crafted Paintings" are part collage, part mixed media paintings, part constructions. They are likely to run off in any of these directions, or others, as the spirit moves them. That spirit expands most successfully when it is beautiful, whimsical, colorful, and rich. These pieces celebrate life in one aspect or another, and they seek to create joy in the heart of the viewer.
Wallace offers the following about her work, "For me, thoughts can be given color and form. 'Images of Thought' is a visual presentation of our ideas and our getting them. 'Memory' refers to past thoughts now reformatted and re-membered. What we feel can be given color and form as well. Although 'realistic' images of people, pets, and landscapes top the list of favorite subjects, there remains an important place in art for the intangible forces in our lives: our thoughts, passions, and memories. I hope I have painted them, but the viewers must fill in the blanks. It is in the blank spaces that we find ourselves."
