Flood Gallery Fine Arts Center in Asheville, NC, Offers Works by Madison J. Cripps

The Flood Gallery Fine Arts Center in Asheville, NC, will present an exhibit of works by Madison J. Cripps, on view in the Pump Gallery at Phil Mechanic Studios from Dec. 3 - 30, 2011. A reception will be held on Dec. 3, from 7-10pm.

Cripps is an eclectic artist and puppeteer. His work brings together a diverse background in drawing, painting, sculpture, ecology, music and performance. He studied art in addition to public school from the age of seven to twenty three. As a freshman in high school he had his first solo show at Western Washington University.

Cripps received the Mable Younge Mark Memorial Scholarship to complete his Senior thesis in painting at The Evergreen State College. Since then, he has used his fine art background and interest in ecology to inform his puppetry. He has designed and constructed over two dozen puppets, two theatres, a walking theatre, received a MCC grant, and performed shows in venues ranging from the streets to historical theaters from Canada to Mexico.
