Bob Graham Offers
a Quarter of a Century of Art in Mt. Pleasant, SC
Bob Graham would like to invite the public to a showing of his work that was twenty-five years in the making. This is an unprecedented look into the mind and soul of an artist as it has evolved over that period of time. Hundreds of works will be on display, ranging from half finished sketches, master drawings and finished watercolors - the majority never previously shown to the public. The works will be offered on Feb. 14, 2009, in Mt Pleasant, SC.
"I do drawings and paintings, put them in a closet or underneath a bed and forget about them, never showing them to a single soul. I do them for myself and for my own enjoyment. I joke about having art skeletons in the closet. Well, they are no longer in the closet, having moved out to take over the entire house" states Graham. "The body of work is tremendous. It's amazing how one grows and changes over a quarter of a century. When one starts out as an artist, you never know down what path it might take you. My style has remained basically the same, but the subject matter has not. The collection includes paintings depicting the War Between the States, nudes, and the most recent western subjects".
Graham's works expanded from entirely black and white pencil drawings to watercolor to a combination of the two.
This is an extremely unique opportunity for the public at large to participate in an artist's journey. It is rare for an artist to open up his studio and personal painting space to the eyes of the public, let alone show a retrospective of twenty-five years of work. To be able to see where an artist started, where he currently is, and get a clue to a future direction is a wonderful opportunity for the art aficionado. The artist may never open his studio this way again.
The showing will be held on Feb. 14, 2009, from 4-9pm at 755 Gate Post, Mt Pleasant, SC. For further information, call 843/849-7781. Current originals and reproductions are also on display at Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC. Images can be viewed at (www.waterfrontartgallery.com).
