February Issue 2009

Winter Light Studios in Greensboro, NC, Features Works by Steve Robinson

Winter Light Studios in Greensboro, NC, will present the exhibit, Beginning Artist Steve Robinson, on view from Feb. 6 - 28, 2009.

Steve Robinson began painting as a retirement activity that has become a significant part of his life! He started painting in Nov. of 2003 after his wife gave him a set of oil paints and brushes. She also scheduled him in a series of art lessons with Connie Logan. In order to increase his time painting and to improve his skills, his rented a studio in downtown Greensboro at TwoArtChicks. It rapidly became apparent that associating with other artists that shared their knowledge with him was immensely beneficial and was a great environment for painting.

Robinson subsequently moved to Winter Light Studios and Art Studios when TwoArtChicks closed to coexist with thirteen other artists. He has also studied under the directions of artists Judy Meyler and John Lines. Robinson says "I very much find pleasure in taking a blank two dimensional canvas and creating a painting with three dimensional characteristics and color. My initial interest was landscapes, but more recently I have been painting still lifes".

Thirteen Artists started Winter Light Gallery in a historic house at 410 Blandwood Avenue. A variety of media will be found at Winter Light including watercolor, photography, ink, oil, acrylic and pastel. Artists include: Kim Holleman, Vicki Johnson, Judy Meyler, Carol Meetze-Moates, Kathy Phillips, Steve Robinson, Carol Sams, Allie Scott, Phyllis Sharpe, Jane Smith, Stephanie Thomas, Steve Thomas and Jeanne Twilley.
