of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, Features Works by Diane Gilbert
Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, will present an exhibit of sculptures by renowned sculptor Diane Gilbert, on view in the Bassett Gallery from Feb. 6 - 28, 2010.
From mosquitoes and caterpillars to life-like monkeys and snakes, Gilbert's sculpture is centered in the world of nature. She hails from Canada's French-speaking province, Quebec, but relocated to the southeastern United States in 2000. She uses several types of clay, from earthenware to porcelain, as well as using a wide range of finishes. Additionally, other media are sometimes incorporated in her pieces including wood fragments, wire, feathers, and fiberglass, as well as found and recycled objects.
