March Issue 2009
Artists Guild
Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Robert
"Bob" Ray
The Artists Guild Gallery
of Greenville in Greenville, SC, will present the exhibit, In
Our Own Backyard, featuring works by Robert "Bob"
Ray, on view from Mar. 1 - 31, 2009.
Ray's work reflects his love for images found in the reality of
every day living. With skill and precision, his pencil and watercolor
pieces illuminate backyard memories with wonder and color. Ray
earns his living as a local attorney, but his joy comes from his
fountain of youth, which is played out in majestic color on paper,
while his faithful dog Hunter lies at his feet.
The pieces range from old barns and broken down houses to historic
places and backyards with clothesline of laundry. Ray's watercolors
are strong and rich in color. His brushstrokes are deliberately
placed to enhance any texture or scene he may encounter. His
subject matter is easy to relate to and his work could possibly
bring back a lost childhood memory.
AGGG is proud to show Ray's work for it is a "down to earth" collection for everyone to enjoy. A Furman and Clemson graduate, Ray obtained his Juris Doctor from Mercer University School of Law, and has been practicing law since 1973. Although he is primarily selftaught in the world of art, he has studied with Tom Flowers and Pat Grills. Ray is a member of the National Watercolor Society, The South Carolina Watermedia Society, and MAC.
The Artists Guild Gallery
