Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, Features Works by Katrina Schmidt-Rinke
Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, is presenting New Oils and Watercolors by Katrina Schmidt-Rinke, on view through Mar. 26, 2014. A reception will be held on Mar. 7, from 6-9pm.
Gallery C invites the public to discover a new name in North Carolina painting: Katrina Schmidt-Rinke. She is a young and dynamic artist who comes to Raleigh with an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. Her exhibition at Gallery C is based on her current exploration of the elements air and water in her oversized cloud oil canvases and her watercolors depicting coastal marshes.
Schmidt-Rinke is a painter who is dedicated to every last detail. Her watercolors are of an extremely high caliber and her oils are exquisitely crafted, “ says the owner of the gallery, Charlene Newsom, describing the exhibition. “The oil depictions of the sky are profound - she is riffing on John Constable. Her works on paper seize the random beauty of a drip and combines that with her controlled application of water media. We have curated an intimate show, only 13 pieces, but it is quality, not quantity.”
