Greenville Technical
College in Greer, SC, Offers Upstate High School Art Exhibit
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Greenville Technical College's Greer Campus is hosting the 19th Annual Upstate High School Art Exhibition, on view through Apr. 24, 2009.
Each year this exhibition represents programs throughout Anderson, Pickens, Oconee, Greenville, Laurens, Greenwood, Spartanburg and Cherokee counties in SC. Upstate high school students are provided a unique opportunity to participate in the Greenville arts community and to learn more about the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Greenville Tech. The scope of this event is truly impressive. This year Greenville Tech is displaying 160 works of art that include an extensive range of two and three-dimensional mediums.
Through sponsorships and donations from the private sector, the Department of Visual and Performing Arts has successfully met their goal for this year's event. Approximately $4000 in award money is earmarked for winning high school artists in all categories and is split between the student and the program they represent, providing much needed funding for high school art departments.
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to acknowledge our sponsors' part in making this event possible. The Metropolitan Arts Council, Professional Pharmacy of Greer, BMW Manufacturing in Partnership with the Metropolitan Arts Council, The Community Foundation of Greenville, Reel Video and Stills, and the Greenville Tech Foundation, have offered generous support, serving so many of our area students and recognizing the significance of their accomplishments.
