Elder
Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present Philip Mullen: Solo
Exhibition, featuring works by South Carolina artist Philip
Mullen, on view from Apr. 2 through May 1, 2010.
Mullen received his BA from the University of Minnesota in 1964,
MA in Studio Art from the University of North Dakota in 1966 and
Ph.D. in Comparative Arts from Ohio University in 1960. He now
lives in SC and is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Art at
the University of South Carolina.
Mullen's work has been included in the Whitney Museum's Biennial of Contemporary Art; the Smithsonian's Contemporary American Drawing V; and the San Francisco Museum of Art's National Drawing Exhibition.
A partial listing of museums who have included Mullen's work in their permanent collections are the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, Sonje Museum of Contemporary Art (South Korea), Palm Springs Desert Museum, the Denver Art Museum, the Mint Museum, the Spartanburg Art Museum, and the Columbia Museum of Art.
