Shain Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Geoffrey Johnson
New paintings by renowned artist Geoffrey Johnson will be on view at Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, from Apr. 16 - May 15, 2010.
Johnson's work is recognized from coast to coast. His largely tonalistic, soft focus, almost blurred landscapes and strong dark to light urban scenes have an elegant sense of melancholy and that very desirable quality of "timelessness" that totally engages the viewer.
Johnson is a 1993 Pennsylvania Academy graduate and is winner of the Morris Blackburn Landscape prize - the recipient is chosen by the Academy faculty. Johnson was also honored as the recipient of the Campbell Soup Company Scholarship and Three Pennsylvania Academy Purchase Prizes.
Johnson's numerous solo exhibitions include Pasadena, CA, Atlanta, GA, Washington, DC, New York City, Alexandra, VA, and Shain Gallery in Charlotte. His work is in numerous corporate and prominent private collections including Turner Broadcasting, Bell South Corporation, Wachovia Bank and the Bernau University Museum in Gainesville, GA.
Located in beautiful Myers Park, Shain Gallery has been on the forefront of the North Carolina art scene since 1998. The gallery represents many leading national and regional artists, and recently won the "Best of the Best Award" for best Charlotte gallery.
