Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art in Charleston Offers Works by Jeff Jamison
Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibit works by its top-selling artist Jeff Jamison, on view from Apr. 1 - 30, 2013. A reception will be held on Apr. 5, from 5-8pm. in April, as he returns to Charleston for the first of his two local shows slated for 2013.
Jamison’s masterpieces consist mainly of cityscapes and restaurant scenes that have a particular energy and sense of nostalgia to them. His romantic scenes are usually moments and memories recreated onto canvas, inspired by travels around the globe, including New York, Paris, and London. He creates captivating paintings that are somehow loose yet angular, and precise yet imaginative. Jamison’s award-winning work has garnered nationwide recognition and has been featured in numerous publications.
As Jamison has evolved as a painter, his work has taken on greater elements of abstraction. His careful selection of shapes and perfectly placed bright paint here and there adds elements of life and movement to his work. He says, “Sometimes a painting creates itself... what I have found so enjoyable is that I no longer try to control everything that happens from beginning to end. I take myself out of the whole process.”
Jamison applies his early football training and discipline to his work. “Art is the hardest thing I’ve ever done after football. I’m glad I have the discipline from athletics because every painting is game day. I love being an artist, but probably what I really love is moving paint around on a canvas and thinking.”
Jamison was born in 1958, is an associate member of the Oil Painters of America, and currently resides in Middle Tennessee with his wife Judy.
