Adam Cave Fine
Art in Raleigh, NC, Features Works by John Gall
Adam Cave Fine Art in Raleigh, NC, is presenting the exhibit, Fables and Fantasy, featuring works by printmaker John Gall, on view through May 26, 2009.
Knowledge is his broad
philosophic base and North Carolina printmaker John Gall has created
a large collection of compositions reflecting this subject. An
exhibit of Gall's clever original drawings, intaglios and prints,
primarily in black and white, many with a slash of bright orangey-red,
are being presented.
Imagine Moving Knowledge. As Gall perceives it, a funny
little man is pushing a wheelbarrow full of letters. This is typical
of his whimsy. In another, a muscular man is balancing a huge
batch of symbols, Greek letters and other recognizable language
elements over his head, aptly titled Burden of Proof. One
small intaglio and chine colle has our amusing Man Juggling
Knowledge.
Gall considers himself a storyteller/printmaker, creating art
as metaphor or narrative. He finds the subjects invented from
his imagination to be the most precious to him, always fresh and
unique to the viewer. The majority of his work is etching (intaglio),
but he also works with woodblocks and in mixed media on paper
employing watercolors, acrylic and colored pencils.
Gall has had many solo exhibitions in North Carolina, Georgia
and Virginia. Numbering among his many awards are inclusion, in
2008, in the 20th University of Dallas National Print Invitational,
and other invitational group shows at Purdue University, the University
of Wisconsin and Arkansas State University.
