Center in Anderson, SC, Offers Annual Juried Show
The Anderson Arts Center in Anderson, SC, is presenting the 34th Annual Juried Show, on view through May 29, 2009.
The Anderson Arts Center is celebrating its 34th Annual Juried Show, one of the oldest in the southeast. With over 450 entries received for the competition, 137 pieces were juried in. This year the caliber of the artwork was nothing short of incredible! A total of 32 awards will be given out, including Best of Show, Second Place, Third Place, Merit Awards, Photography Merit Awards, Fine Craft Merit Awards, Purchase Awards & A Special Award made from the Juried Show for the Anderson Arts Center's Permanent Collection in honor of the memory of Callie Stringer Rainey and her contribution to the arts.
This year, the juror was Michael W. Haga, who is Assistant Dean at the College of Charleston's School of the Arts. He is responsible for the School's administrative activities and budgets as well as special events and projects related to stewardship and educational and cultural programming. Haga received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Roanoke College and a Masters of Arts and Liberal Studies degree from Hollins College.
In conjunction with the Anderson Arts Center's 34th Annual Juried Show is a show titled Out & In. This exhibit features artwork chosen by gallery owner, Terri Pruitt, to be exhibited at Gallery 3·1·3, in Anderson. Fourty-one pieces of artwork was chosen to hang in a salon style exhibit after the jurying process. We encourage everyone to visit both exhibits, which are less than a block away from each other. This is a great opportunity to see more talented artists throughout the southeast.
