Center of the Earth Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Carrie McGee

Center of the Earth Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Carrie McGee: Anomaly, on view from May 1 through June 27, 2009.

Every Carrie McGee creation has the dazzling and airy effect of suspended jewels.
In a turbulent and constantly moving world, her work emerges as the calm in the center of the storm. Natural light interacts with subtle impressions to produce shifting pools of color in harmonies that might reflect and extend to nearby surfaces. Ancient and new materials such as gold and silver leaf and cast acrylic are paired along with the aging qualities of rust. The experience is optically melodic and futuristic.

McGee's work ranges in scale from small singular panels to entire wall large scale multi panel and ceiling hung installations. This is art for a new century and an interesting experiential art form that explores the dynamics of color that can interplay with light.

A National Endowment for the Arts Recipient, McGee has also received a Southern Arts Federation Fellowship and was an Internationale Austausch Ateliers Basel Exchange Artist at the Christoph Merian Foundation, Basel, Switzerland. Collections include the Tennessee State Museum, Marriott Hotel, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
