An exhibition of his finished works will be on view from May 21 July 13, 2009.
Zimmermann, known for his thought-provoking street art, strives to spark dialogue through stimulating site-specific murals. His work, presented through dynamic renderings and technique, challenges audiences while employing their minds. His artistic process centers on a unique observation, conversation, and exploration of the local community. For this exhibition, the downtown Charleston community will serve as the soul and inspiration for Zimmermann's artwork.
Zimmermann, a Chicago native, highly regarded for his public murals and narrative paintings, has created art in a multitude of locales ranging from the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago to the energetic streets of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Other residency programs include the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, where Zimmermann created Valuables. This on site mural consisted of huge portraits of locals and dynamic color created publicly enabling audience interaction and participation. His recent commissions include: Nike, House of Blues Chicago, LaSalle Bank, Whole Foods Inc., DreamWorks LLC, and Rhodes College.
