Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Offers Works by Floyd Kemp
The Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, will present From My Garden, featuring a series of acrylic still life paintings of flowers and foliage by Floyd Kemp’s garden combined with objects he has gathered, on view from May 1 - 31, 2013. A reception will be held on May 3, from 5:30-8pm.
Kemp paints mainly still life subjects using acrylics as his medium. He is a native of Iowa and holds a BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa, an MA in Fine Arts from the State University of Iowa, and has done further graduate work in Fine Arts at Michigan State University.
Kemp taught High School Art in Iowa for 3 years and was a professor in the art department at Jackson Community College in Jackson, MI, where he taught for 26 years. Since retirement, he has lived in Black Mountain, NC, where he has continued to work as a studio artist. His paintings are interpretations of common, everyday subjects rendered with color and line to lock a moment in time forever.
